Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Come join a thriving insurance-based private practice! AMS Nutrition Counseling, PLLC is always looking for part-time Registered Dietitian Nutritionists to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy to our patients.

Our office is in the Town of Lockport, minutes away from Transit Road. We focus on patients with chronic health conditions such as obesity, prediabetes, diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Dietitians with a variety of specialties and experiences are encouraged to apply.
​
This is an in-person counseling role. Hours are flexible, and we are willing to work around candidates’ schedules. There is no requirement to recruit your own patients. Depending on experience level, plenty of resources and mentorship will be provided to help you grow as a clinician. ​

Full Job Description

Job Summary: The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to assigned patients and documents nutrition counseling sessions in the Electronic Health Record.
​
Duties/Responsibilities:

Assesses the nutritional needs of assigned patients by collecting information from the patient and medical record.

Provides patient-centered, evidenced-based nutrition counseling to assigned patients as appropriate. Recommendations provided are individualized, culturally appropriate and free of bias.

Communicates with other healthcare providers either by telephone, fax or other HIPAA- compliant means to both provide and request information about the patient.

Refers patients to other providers and resources as needed or requested.

Provides support and education and establishes goals and objectives collaboratively with patients.

Schedules follow up appointments with a focus on patient retention.

Accurately documents nutrition counseling sessions in the EHR.

Follows HIPAA laws and maintain both practice and patient privacy.

Updates and creates patient education handouts and works on other projects as assigned.

Performs clerical duties such as greeting and checking in patients, scanning documents, and scheduling appointments, as well as other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
​

Currently credentialed as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR).

Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CDN) with New York State Department of Education.

At least one year of experience in the dietetics field, ideally in an outpatient setting.

Additional certifications or additional training preferred, such as but not limited to, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition, Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management, or completion of the Monash University Online FODMAP course.
Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing while communicating with patients may be required.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
